Passions and Rituals is the immigrant story of Marietta Veulens, a Cuban composer who has spent twenty years trying to complete her lifeworks and album. Torn between Cuba and the UK, Marietta returns to her hometown of Matanzas to perform music from the album live for the first time, and complete the journey to finding her true voice. Reinventing classical rhythms and musical form, Marietta rewrites Cuban tradition, combining classical and popular music with contemporary, folkloric and jazz. The film chronicles her pilgrimage back to Cuba, the circle of women and orishas who have embraced her and her ability to break boundaries through music.

The screening is followed by a Q&A with the Director, and artist Marietta Veulens
