400,000 Allied soldiers were trapped on the beach at ‘Dunkirk’, surrounded by the German army in the early days of the Second World War. And they needed to be evacuated. France had been overrun, and the Allied army had been defeated and trapped. Christopher Nolan brings his vision to ‘Dunkirk’, one of the defining events of the 20th Century.
