Ciné-Real

Ciné-Real is the only film club in the UK to exclusively play films in 16mm format. The film night is run by Director Liam Saint-Pierre and Projectionist, Ümit Mesut, of Ümit & son.

Why 16mm? There's something about the feel of analog that you just don’t get with digital. It’s like the difference between sitting in front of an open fire compared to a radiator. They chose 16mm over 35mm as it was easier to get the prints. There are also lots on super 8mm, but they’re often abridged and come on 8 reels!

Cine-Real presents: Pulp Fiction + The Last Picture Shop Crowdfunder

Join us for a special Crowdfunder screening of Pulp Fiction, paired with an exclusive teaser for our film The Last Picture Shop. For over 40 years, Ümit, a 65 year old Cypriot Cockney projectionist, has run the last cine film shop in the UK. Now rising costs and gentrification threaten to close it for good. We are making a film about saving Ümit’s shop, and about friendship, community, and a shared love of cinema. This event is about raising awareness for our Crowdfunder. We need your support to finish the film and help protect this vital piece of film culture. Come and watch, spread the word, and be part of keeping the picture alive.
