20 years after it opened to muted reviews, Michael Mann’s immersive neo-noir Miami Vice today stands tall as one of the cult crime films, reappraised in the two decades since its release as a 'demented masterwork' (Bilge Ebiri, Vulture). Giving his own iconic 80s cop show a grunge 00s makeover, Mann reboots Miami Vice as a visceral mood experience: mojito-fuelled romance, characters staring pensively out to sea and pounding action set against lightning-lashed urban backdrops.

This 20th anniversary screening of the film will be introduced by Sam Wigley, BFI Digital Features Editor at Sight and Sound, who in 2020 wrote of Miami Vice: 'Ramp up the volume on a humid night and it feels like one of the great American films of the 2000s.'
