A Douglas Sirk melodrama following struggling white actress Lora Meredith (Lana Turner) and her friendship with Annie Johnson (Juanita Moore), a homeless Black widow. Annie becomes Lora’s housekeeper, while her light-skinned daughter, Sarah Jane, attempts to pass as white, causing heartbreak and conflict.
Ciné-Real is one of the only film clubs in the UK to exclusively play films from original 16mm prints. They are a non-profit organisation which aims to unite film makers and enthusiasts in their appreciation of classic film.
