In a Sudanese cotton-farming village, teenage Nafisa grows up on her matriarch grandmother's heroic tales of resistance against British colonizers. But when an ambitious businessman returns from abroad with genetically engineered cotton and a high-stakes development plan, Nafisa finds herself at the center of a battle for her village's future. Awakening to her own power, she fights to save her community’s land and rewrite her own destiny.

Directed by Sudanese-Russian filmmaker Suzannah Mirghani, known for her critically acclaimed, award-winning short film Al-Sit. Showcasing striking visual lyricism and a sharp exploration of modern neocolonialism, the film offers a powerful, rarely seen lens on contemporary African womanhood. It stands as a vital milestone in modern Sudanese cinema, celebrating resilience and female agency. 

The screening will be followed by an exclusive live Q&A session with director Suzannah Mirghani.
