On a futuristic oil rig, the tormented scientist Krank has aged prematurely because he has lost the ability to dream. To reverse the aging process, he kidnaps children from the local town so that he can steal their dreams and become young again. A former circus strongman and little orphan girl set out on a journey into Krank's nightmarish laboratory to free the children and escape.

With fantastical costumes by Jean-Paul Gaultier and a haunting score from David Lynch collaborator Angelo Badalementi, The City of Lost Children is a swampy and sensorial voyage through the dark cinematic imaginations of directors Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro.
