DOC'N ROLL FILM FEST PRESENTS - UK PREMIERE

An exploration of the life, music and artistic output of Stuart Gray (AKA Stu Spasm), the notorious underground rocker and sometime member of The Beasts of Bourbon and Salamander Jim who went on to create the most psychotronic group ever to emerge from Australia – the legendary proto-grunge rockets Lubricated Goat.

Shot over 20 years, the film features archival footage, photos, interviews, Gray’s idiosyncratic sculptures and paintings, and live performance footage including Gray’s current New York City-based band, The Art Gray Noizz Quintet.

I Should Have Been Dead Years Ago is the story of a restlessly intelligent, fearlessly rule-breaking, compulsively creative iconoclast who finds artistic redemption despite failing to achieve commercial success. Featuring insights from friends and admirers Mark Arm and Steve Turner of Mudhoney.
